This was Winnie’s mama’s first attempt at the Springer cut. Grooming Lady Winifred was like trying to wrestle a greased pig Ninja warrior puppy. She has already priced out what the next grooming will cost at PetSmart.
The 2017-18 school year is off to a glorious start. My students are demonstrating skills that I wasn’t expecting. They are accessing their education in ways I have only dreamed about. I’m co-teaching with general education teachers and it is AWESOME. I fully expect for this sprint start to settle into a marathon pace at some point but every day of this is a joy and a treat.
I’ve been keeping my promises to myself. I have a small area of my whiteboard at school with pictures of the important things: Doug, the boys and Dena, my chair at the end of the dock on Smith Lake, and the dogs. My priorities have me getting to work an hour after I always have and leaving an hour earlier than I always have. I’m coaching 2 nights a week and I’m making healthy dinners every night. It is possible. So far, I’m able to do my job. And so far, I am happier.
My running isn’t strong yet but I have some follow up tests from this summer and then hopefully I will be free and clear to run to my (healthy) heart’s content. Then I’m hoping to choose a race to start training for to build myself back.
What do you do to keep a normal work life/home life balance? How do you hold yourself accountable both places?
